On February 13, 2018, HMPF sponsored a policy forum addressing veterans' access to migraine and headache disorders treatment to bring attention to a patient population disproportionately affected by the disease.
The policy luncheon featured opening remarks from Congressional Veterans Caucus member, Rep. Roger Marshall, M.D. (1st-KS) as part of a panel discussion moderated by David Charles, M.D. which included the National Program Director for Neurology for the Veterans Health Administration, Don Higgins, M.D.; James Couch, M.D., the top researcher on veterans and migraine in the nation; Dr. Alan Finkel who treats soldiers at Fort Bragg, NC; and Chris Meek of SoldierStrong Access.
More than 200 participants including Headache on the Hill advocates, stakeholder members and supporters, and Capitol Hill staff gathered in the Dirksen Senate Office Building to learn more about treatment options for veterans with migraine.
